Meet Our Crocs and caiman

Orinoco Crocodile

Crocodylus intermedius

The Orinoco Crocodile is a large species (reaching lengths of up to 15 feet) native to the Orinoco River basin in Eastern Colombia and Venezuela. Over-hunting nearly led to the extinction of this species and today it is still considered a Critically Endangered Species. The Dallas World Aquarium is home to the only actively breeding pair of Orinoco crocodiles in the country, producing over 100 off-spring over the past ten years.

Morelet's Crocodile

Crocodylus moreletii

The Morelet's crocodile is a medium sized crocodile, rarely exceeding 9' (3m) in length. They can be found in the Atlantic regions of Central America from Mexico through Belize and Guatemala. Their diet consists of small mammals, birds and other reptiles.

Cuvier's Dwarf Caiman

Paleosuchus palpebrosus

Cuvier's Dwarf caiman is the smallest of all crocodilians and can be found throughout the Amazon River Basin. They are opportunistic carnivores and will feed on a variety of molluscs, insects, fish, amphibians, other reptiles, and small mammals.
